Transform Your Glass With
Light and Color
Dichroic window film changes color when viewed from different angles and with light.
Color shifts when viewed from different angles using 3M Multi-layer optical film technology
Reflected colors are different than the colors in transmission
Can be used in applications such as shading fins, balustrades, exterior glass, glass partition walls, shower door glass, artistic glass and glass furniture
Film can be printed, cut, patterned, bent, or combined with different glass types of interlayer adhesives
Create one-of-a-kind architectural wonders using glass manufactured with 3M™ Dichroic Film. This film is laminated between glass layers to create glass that dynamically changes colors from different angles and lighting conditions. It’s a distinctive and eye-catching way to make a long-lasting impression.
How does Dichroic Film Work?
Dichroic filters use the principle of thin-film interference, and produce colors in the same way as oil films on water. When light strikes an oil film at an angle, some of the light is reflected from the top surface of the oil, and some is reflected from the bottom surface where it is in contact with the water.
Where can I install Dichroic Film?
Dichroic window film can be installed on glass, acrylic, and polycarbonate surfaces. We cannot install the product in areas in which the film may frequently come into contact with water or where condensation often occurs, as this will damage the film over time.
